The purpose of a living will is to provide doctors and other health care workers with clear directions regarding how you would like your medical care handled toward the end of your life. A living will makes it possible for you to specify, in advance, exactly what your preferences are regarding the use of life-sustaining medical procedures if you are ever in a terminal medical condition or in a vegetative state, and are unable to give such directions yourself.
As more and more advances are made in the medical field in terms of the ability to prevent �clinical� death, the difficult situations envisioned by a living will are destined to occur more often. A living will declares your wishes not to be kept alive by artificial or mechanical means if you are suffering from a terminal condition and your death would be imminent without the use of such artificial means. It provides a legally-binding written set of instructions regarding your wishes about this important matter. This product contains a general, standardized living will. This form has been adapted from the most recent legislation regarding living wills. This product also contains a state-specific living will as part of Advance Health Care Directives. You may use either an individual living will or a living will as part of the larger document (advance health care directive).
