An agreement is merely a contract by which two or more parties each promise to do something. The objective of a good agreement is to clearly set out the terms of the agreement. Once the parties have reached an oral understanding of what their agreement should be, the terms of the deal should be clearly written and easily understood by both parties. There has to be some form of mutual promise for an agreement to be valid (for example, one party agrees to provide a service and the other party agrees to pay for it). Another requirement is that the parties be clearly identified and the terms of the agreement also be clearly spelled out. The terms and description need not be complicated, but they must be in enough detail to enable the parties to the agreement (and any subsequent court) to clearly determine to what exactly the parties were referring when they made the agreement.
